Is this your event?About the event
Doomscrolling versus creativity can feel like a losing battle, but recording our experiences and thoughts can be a radical act of resistance, both for ourselves and for future generations. Join memoir writer Carly Butler and Writer-in-Residence Loghan Paylor for a non-prescriptive writing workshop on journaling during uncertain times. Through the lens of lived experience, Indigenous teachings, and practical journaling prompts, Carly will share how her childhood journals became the inspiration behind her memoir, Apocalypse Child, and how journaling can help you face the unthinkable and live to see the other side. *** Carly Butler (she/her) is the BC Bestselling debut author of Apocalypse Child: Surviving Doomsday and the Search For Identity at the End of the World. *** This program is supported by the Friends of The Vancouver Public Library, a community of library lovers who volunteer, fundraise, and advocate i n support of the Vancouver Public Library. The Friends also operate book’mark, The Library Store, on the main level of Central Branch of the Vancouver Public Library. *** Accessibility: VPL is committed to making our programs accessible for all. If you have an access need that we have not addressed here, please email us at programs@vpl.ca. Elevator access to the Alice MacKay Room is available in the concourse near the bank machine. There will be designated spaces for wheelchairs and patrons with mobility devices. Quiet Tables are available for patrons who would prefer to enjoy the class without talking to others.
