Maarten Heijmans & Xander Vrienten - Wachtend op de dood

What would Maarten van Roozendaal have sounded like if he had been born in New Orleans? Or Boudewijn de Groot in Nashville? What if Shaffy had washed up in Memphis instead of Mokum? Or the other way around: if the family of Townes van Zandt had never left the Zaanstreek? In short: what happens when cabaret meets the deep south of America? Chansons between the Jordaan and the Mississippi. With new songs and timeless classics. And with a rock-solid band. In De Kleine Komedie. Maarten Heijmans & Xander Vrienten

Gouden Kalf winner Maarten Heijmans and bassist Xander Vrienten are finding out. They share a love for the music of the American South. Blues, folk and jazz. In Wachtend op de dood, they anchor those sounds to cabaret. They connect the Mississippi to the Jordaan.
