About the event

This workshop focuses on defining intergenerational trauma and understanding how it has been shaped by colonial adversities, including the residential school system that Indigenous people were forced into. We explore how these experiences continue to affect survivors and their families across generations and highlight the movement toward intergenerational healing—centering on resiliency, reconnection to traditional practices, and the importance of restoring cultural values in order to reclaim the past, present, and future. Presented in partnership with the Indian Residential School Survivors Society (IRSSS), a provincial organization that provides essential services to residential school survivors and families experiencing intergenerational trauma. Accessibility Information VPL is committed to making our programs accessible for all. If you have an access need that we have not addressed here, please email us at info@vpl.ca. The theatre has 74 fixed seats that are 17.5" wide, and three wheelchair accessible spaces Noise level is expected to be low/moderate Lighting will be low/moderate For more information on physical access, view the Accessibility information on the Central Library page.
