In Person: Zumrad Mirzalieva “Moving Histories” brings together works by five women artists that explore complex and interconnected histories, weaving intimate family narratives into broader national and transnational movements. The program includes two cinematic works—Zumrad Mirzalieva’s Tashkent 58–88 (2023–25) and Dana Iskakova’s Whose Voice is This? (2024)—that honour the legacy of regional filmmaking in Central Asia through the research and artistic networks developed by DAVRA, the research-based collective established by artist Saodat Ismailova. Alongside these works, Parwana Haydar’s House of History (2025), Daria Kim’s 1937 (2024–25), and Zelikha Zohra Shoja’s In Search of Bluer Tongues (2026) situate intimate, individual experiences within moments of profound political and social transformation. Introduction and post-screening conversation with filmmaker Zumrad Mirzalieva, moderated by Vancouver-based artist and filmmaker Althea Thauberger. This program is curated by Dilda Ramazan.
