About the event
IDFA returns in 2026. Every November, this international film festival takes place in Amsterdam, transforming the city into a paradise for documentary enthusiasts. It takes place in various locations, from Rembrandtplein to Amsterdam West and Zuidoost. With (inter)national premieres and competitions, films by debutants and students, children's documentaries, a film market, and many international guests. Largest documentary festival No other film festival in the world attracts as many high-quality documentaries, film fans, and film professionals from the Netherlands and abroad as IDFA. IDFA is the world's largest documentary film festival, and this year it once again features the biggest and newest (inter)national documentaries. Special view of the world IDFA screens more than 300 international documentaries, each offering a unique perspective on the world. Viewers are transported to both the poorest and richest places on earth, sometimes poetically, sometimes with a powerful statement. The topics are incredibly diverse, but the films share one thing in common: they provoke thought and encourage discussion. Keep an eye on the IDFA website for more information and ticket sales.
