Join exhibition curator Rab MacGibbon to discuss what happens when a contemporary artist revisits one Britain’s most well-known paintings. In Thomas Gainsborough’s ‘Mr and Mrs Andrews’ a wealthy, fashionable couple sits in the English countryside. British-Nigerian artist Yinka Shonibare rips them from their scene in his work, ‘Mr. and Mrs. Andrews without their Heads’. At this early access introduction, we invite you to look closely at these two works, brought together for the first time at the National Gallery, with special insights from the exhibition curator.
