Black in Time: Exploring Black British Life Through Our Memories Workshop

There’s so much history held in people’s everyday stories that deserves a place in our collective memory. Join us for an interactive workshop exploring Black British life through the memories we carry. Together, we’ll revisit the people, places and everyday moments that have stayed with us — from TV and school to music, shops, clothes, routines and places that no longer exist. Through conversation and simple prompts, we’ll explore what these memories can reveal about Black British life across different times, places and generations. You’ll also have the chance to add one memory to a shared timeline, placing your experience alongside others to help build a richer, more layered picture of Black British life. No previous knowledge of history is needed. Just bring your memories. About Black in Time Black in Time is a platform exploring Black British history, culture and everyday life — looking beyond the major milestones to the people, places and experiences that help us understand what Black British life has felt like across time. This workshop forms part of The People’s Timeline, a growing participatory project from Black in Time that collects memories of Black British lived experience across time and place.
