About the event

In celebration of V&A East Museum's exhibition, The Music is Black: A British Story, BBC Introducing Live is teaming up with BBC Radio 1Xtra and partnering with V&A East Museum for a special evening of networking, open mic performances and a panel conversation titled 'New Black British Sound x BBC Introducing.' Panel conversation: New Black British Sound x BBC Introducing Level 3 19:00-19:45 Hosted by BBC Introducing's Angelle Joseph, alongside speakers including V&A East's Josephine Small and some special guests, the panel will present the stories of some of the most impactful moments in the history of Black British music, as well as discussing ideas of how the UK music industry can create opportunities and support the growth of young Black artists in the future. Open Mic Upper Ground 20:00-21:30 The Open Mic will be hosted by BBC Radio 1Xtra Introducing's Theo Johnson and will provide nine artists the opportunity to perform live for BBC Introducing on the night. Ticketholders will be emailed with more information and an invite to apply for one of these slots soon. Please note participants in the Open Mic session must be aged 18 or over.
