About the event

Two young women turn everyday life upside down to escape the oppressive atmosphere of Communism. The refreshing Daisies by Czech nouvelle vague pioneer Vera Chytilová is exuberantly anarchic. 4K restoration. Czechoslovakia, 1966: two years before the Russian incursion. Marie I and Marie II, young women with a lust for life, are bored. Communist culture is dreary and unimaginative, so the two of them decide to shake things up a bit. They don bathing suits and brightly coloured skirts, have a riotous food fight, steal what they need and disrupt the everyday grind completely.
