About the event
Back by popular demand!Kurt Schoonraad Live in "Funny Side Up" returns to the stages of Cape Town! Get ready for a laugh-out-loud experience as one of South Africa’s most recognizable and influential comedians, Kurt Schoonraad, takes to the stage with his latest one-man show, Funny Side Up! After a successful Johannesburg run last year and performances at the Baxter in Cape Town and Gqeberha throughout 2026, Schoonraad is back to do what he does best: hold up a mirror to South African life, find the ridiculousness in it and make an entire room laugh at the things we all secretly recognise. From ageing and relationships to family drama, social behaviour, everyday frustrations and the sheer madness of navigating life in South Africa, Funny Side Up takes the ordinary and turns it into comedy gold. There’s a reason Schoonraad has remained one of South Africa’s most enduring comedy voices. His humour is rooted in real life, real people and real South African experiences — delivered with the warmth, honesty and razor-sharp observation that have become his trademark.
