Along the way, she’s had some charming failures: like not being able to convince her 72‑year‑old retired physics‑professor dad to embrace diversified ETFs instead of stock‑picking. Eventually, she realized that his happiness, and his joy in feeling like the smartest cookie in the family, matters far more than any numbers ever could. She also hasn’t succeeded in persuading her best friends who work in AI to start investing, since they’re convinced an AI bubble is coming and worry they’ll lose money.
