Nesta visita íntima e comentada, teremos o privilégio de ser guiados por Maria Arlete Silva, comissária de arte e amiga próxima de Menez. Mais do que uma visita expositiva, será uma oportunidade única de aceder a contextos, bastidores e partilhas pessoais que apenas quem partilhou o ateliê e a amizade com a artista poderia revelar. Descobriremos como Menez, através da cor, da luz e de uma composição quase musical, construiu uma linguagem interior que sobrevive ao tempo, numa exposição que homenageia a artista distinguida com o Prémio Pessoa, uma das mais relevantes distinções culturais atribuídas no país, em 1990, o mesmo ano em que a Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian lhe dedicou uma exposição antológica no Centro de Arte Moderna.

[EN] Tools for your social and cognitive longevity Menez’s work is one of the best-kept secrets of 20th-century Portuguese painting. Wavering between figuration and abstraction, her art is not to be read, but contemplated. We invite our members to an exclusive encounter with the silent, poetic, and deeply sensitive universe of this unique artist.

In this intimate, guided visit, we have the privilege of being led by Maria Arlete Silva, art curator and a close friend of Menez. More than an exhibition tour, this is a unique opportunity to access contexts, behind-the-scenes stories, and personal memories that only someone who shared the artist’s studio and friendship could reveal. We will discover how Menez—through colour, light, and almost musical composition—constructed an interior language that transcends time, in an exhibition honouring the artist who was awarded the Prémio Pessoa, one of the most prestigious cultural distinctions in the country, in 1990—the same year the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation dedicated an anthological exhibition to her at the Modern Art Centre.
