Bluebeard’s Eighth Wife

Michael Brandon seems like a dream on paper: handsome, obscenely wealthy and head-over-heels in love with the spirited yet financially challenged Nicole. That is, until she realises that her new fiancé has an ex-wife. Seven, in fact. The psychological warfare that follows is bonkers in the best possible way, the ‘Lubitsch touch’ sprinkling moments of magic over Wilder and Brackett’s pacey, delirious screenplay. Screen: NFT2.
