Barbara Hammer, who was a member of the second wave of feminism, ambitiously dedicated her entire life to fighting for queer acceptance. A pioneer of queer cinema, Hammer (1939 – 2019) started making films aged 27, and came out as a lesbian in her early 30s: “My life was lived on film”. The enormous wealth of footage about her life constitutes the basis for Barbara Forever , Brydie O’Connor’s feature film debut that does justice to Barbara’s stunning, charismatic personality.
