Natural Fibres & Clay: An Open Studio Weekend
About the event
Ruth Shteinman opens her treetop-level studio for Sydney Craft Week. Visitors can explore a collection of ceramics, wool weavings and natural fibre works while learning about the materials and processes behind them. Throughout the day, Ruth will present free 30-minute demonstrations, including the traditional technique of twining. Participants will discover how to create simple woven forms using natural fibres readily found in kitchens, gardens and local neighbourhoods. Hourly hands-on weaving sessions offer visitors the opportunity to try the technique themselves, with places limited to six participants per session and allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. A studio sale of ceramics, weavings and one-of-a-kind works will provide visitors with the opportunity to purchase pieces directly from the artist.
