Our communities are under a constant barrage from the current administration and its craven supporters in Congress and billion cronies; attacking healthcare, gender and sexual identity, housing, education, economic stability, civil rights, privacy, people with disabilities, voting, environmental protection, plus so much more. The mid-terms are our chance to organize and push back. Urge family and friends across the country, GET OUT AND VOTE! Early Voting and Registration Dates by State
YOUTH IN GOVERNMENT Hailing from the Washington DC metro area, Youth in Government craft expansive space rock that blends the psychedelic textures of the 1970s with the atmospheric haze of shoegaze and the emotional sweep of post-rock. Equal parts cosmic and cathartic, the duo channels shimmering guitars, immersive soundscapes, and driving rhythms into songs that feel both nostalgic and forward-looking. Core members Chris Mathews-Larsen (guitar/vocals) and Trae Tomko (drums/vocals/sampler) wrote, performed, and co-produced the entirety of their Fall 2026 EP Moondials and a majority of their debut album Silhouettes. Drawing inspiration from artists such as Radiohead, Slowdive, the Beatles, the Cure, and the influential 4AD catalog, the band creates music that balances melody, experimentation, and atmosphere. They are joined on stage by David Barker (lead guitar) and Jamie Darken (bass).
FURNITURE MUSIC Continuing QUERING SOUND’s explorations of collaborations and Classical Disruptions, we present Furniture Music – loosely based upon Erik Satie’s 1917 musical concept of background music – featuring Jeff Barsky ( Insect Factory ) and JS Adams ( THAT CLOUD ). Guitar and effects soundscapes with atmospheric prepared vinyl and turntables provide musique d’ameublement that bends in mysterious, ghostly and surreal ways.
WE ALL WITNESS Born from a meeting of musical minds at the 2026 Washington Women in Jazz Festival, We All Witness is an avant-garde collective that brings together some of the Washington DC area's most adventurous instrumentalists, featuring Amy K. Bormet (piano and keyboards), Sarah Marie Hughes (Alto Saxophone, Flute and Woodwinds), Christine Paluch (Synethesizers), Keith Butler Jr. (Drums and Percussion) and Thomas Stanley (Electronics). The project serves as a dedicated platform for exploring the fusion of horror music and jazz. The foundation of the collective's sound relies on a juxtaposition of acoustic and electronic forces, capable of expanding with additional musical voices depending on the performance.
