[Reading Group] The Bottleneck in AI Safety

In a widely discussed LessWrong post published in July, [Charbel-Raphaël](https://crsegerie.com/), Executive Director of the French Center for AI Safety – CeSIA, argues that educating politicians on AI risk is much more important than working on technical solutions.

He claims that most senior policymakers have never seriously considered catastrophic risk from AI, and that the field of AI safety, with roughly 3.6 researchers for every advocate in US AI governance, is putting its effort in the wrong place. The post draws on two years of meetings in European and UN institutions.
