Paradies: Hoffnung

Ulrich Seidl’s bittersweet look at love’s detours at a strict dieting camp in the mountains. This time around, a darkly-humorous look at unrequited love instead of the usual confrontation. Paradies: Hoffnung sees the return of Melanie, Teresa’s 13-year-old daughter who we first met in Paradies: Liebe. While her mother is in Keyna, the overweight Melanie spends her holiday at a strict, forlorn dieting camp in the mountains, where she falls in love with an older doctor. This camp leader feels really guilty as he is conscious of how impossible this romance is.
