All the American Dream’s values are shredded in John Waters’ tale of nonconformist individuals – misfits, thieves, drag queens, representatives of what would know be referred to as the LHBTQI+ movement – were grotesque, ultra low-budget comedies in which over the top-shock effects were used to promote liberating alternative laughter.
