Suzaki Paradise Red Light

Yuzo Kawashima unsentimentally and empathically tells the story of a young marginalised couple trying to survive in a red light district in post-war Japan. New 4K restoration. A bridge separates the Suzaki red light district from the more genteel parts of Tokyo; a neon sign indicating the boundary. Penniless couple Yoshigi and Tsutue stand there looking for work and somewhere to live. Just before they cross over to the other side, Tsutue finds work at one of the sake bars. Yuzo Kawashima unsentimentally and unjudgmentally portrays the struggles and survival strategies of the marginalised in post-war Japan.
