The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert

Oscar-winning iconic queer film: camp drag queens Mitzi and Felicia, and trans woman Bernadette wander Australia’s outback in a bus, eliciting anger, ridicule and admiration. Terence Stamp is impressive as a middle-aged trans woman. Three showgirls, two drag queens and a trans woman from Sydney, are bored of life in the big city. The three take up an invitation to perform in Alice Springs, in the middle of the outback.

They buy an old bus which they christen ‘Priscilla’ and commence a journey full of bizarre, sometimes dangerous adventures. Because Priscilla regularly breaks down the girls resort to performing in the dusty backcountry settlements they find themselves in.
