Their debut album Autumn Leaves, featuring works by Debussy, Grieg, Holst, and Takemitsu, received five stars and a perfect ten from the Dutch press. Now, the musicians of the GoYa Quartet are performing the most beautiful clarinet quintets by Brahms and Mozart in the Recital Hall with their colleague Carlos Ferreira, principal clarinetist of the Concertgebouw Orchestra.
GoYa Quartet and Carlos Ferreia
He was an ECHO Rising Star in the 2024-2025 season, and Carlos Ferreira recently became the new principal clarinetist of the Concertgebouw Orchestra. This time, the Portuguese clarinetist comes to the Kleine Zaal together with the GoYa Quartet, founded in 2014. The four quartet members met in Amsterdam and initially all played in the Concertgebouw Orchestra until Primarius Sylvia Huang became Concertmaster of the La Monnaie Symphony Orchestra in Brussels in 2022. Their 2024 debut album, Autumn Leaves, was critically acclaimed by the Dutch press.
Clarinet Quintets by Mozart and Brahms
The GoYa Quartet and Carlos Ferreia perform two masterpieces by Mozart and Brahms together for the unusual instrumentation of string quartet with clarinet. Mozart composed his Clarinet Quintet for the clarinet virtuoso Anton Stadler, an exuberant masterpiece full of surprising melodies. Brahms, too, was inspired by a clarinetist friend, Richard Mühlfeld, and postponed his retirement to write beautiful clarinet works, including his Clarinet Quintet.
