François Ozon’s outrageous debut film is an inky-black family farce that destroys every Bourgeois ideal. Full of spine-tingling twists, sexual excesses, absurd dream sequences, convoluted chaos and acid humour. It all starts when the father of an average, ostensibly harmonious French family brings home a pet rat. One by one they interact with the rodent which causes all manner of hidden sexual desires to emerge.
