George Balanchine, the influential choreographer of the twentieth century, opens the evening with his work Symphony in C. The Dutch National Ballet holds an important collection of his works. In Symphony in C, powerful, swirling dance themes challenge all the dancers. Here you see how movement and music come together fluidly.
Depth and inspiration
Toer van Schayk's Requiem, danced to Mozart's Requiem Mass, depicts the influence of man on the earth. Moving duets and powerful group scenes give new depth to Mozart's masterpiece. This ballet touches you through its deep emotions and expressive dance. Simple Things by Hans van Manen is new to the Dutch National Ballet. This important dance quartet brings movement and music together in an unparalleled way. The male duets are virtuosic and challenging.
