BANKET
About the event
Flemish Cultural Centre De Brakke Grond and Banket open the new season with a festive evening full of art, performance, music, meeting people, and – naturally – food. The main course of the evening is the opening of Wayward Sanctuaries, a group exhibition that explores artists' search for new forms of home. Let artists give you a guided tour
During BANKET, the exhibition Wayward Sanctuaries is activated with performances, guided tours, and interventions by the artists themselves. Wayward Sanctuaries is a collaboration between The Constant Now, Kunsthal Mechelen, and de Brakke Grond, curated by Leana Boven. This offers a unique glimpse behind the scenes of the creative process.
Immerse yourself in new performances
Artist Hannah Zaouad is in residence during BANKET and is working on their new performance Hoe zeg je “kom terug”?. Together with Dounia Mahammed and Zindzi Tillot Owusu, they offer a glimpse into a poetic exploration of return, origin, and the tourism industry in the Rif region of Morocco. A special opportunity to follow the development of a new production.
Experience encounter and collectivity
In the Main Hall, Tashattot Collective: Charbel Alkhoury & Christian Sleiman present a work centered on food and hospitality. The central themes are encounter and collectivity. The evening concludes with a grand dessert. Artists from the Wayward Sanctuaries exhibition take over the Red Hall with Wayward Live, an evening program featuring text, performance, and music. The dazzling program ends with a festive closing. Come along and enjoy this cultural evening.
