Communication in Action! — Workshop 2
About the event
Are You Listening or Just Waiting to Talk?
Have you ever been talking to someone and suddenly realised… they're not actually listening? They're nodding. They're making eye contact. But somehow you can tell they're already preparing what they're going to say next. And let's be honest—we've probably all done it. Listening sounds simple. But really listening means more than staying quiet while someone else speaks. It means being curious about what they're actually saying. Not just waiting for your turn. In this workshop, we'll explore what it means to make someone feel heard, how our own assumptions get in the way of listening, and what changes when we stop trying to immediately respond, fix, advise or compare. We'll experiment with different ways of listening through practical exercises, role-play, observation and feedback.
Because sometimes the most powerful thing you can communicate is: “I'm here. I'm listening.” Format: 90 minutes Audience: Open to the public — no previous attendance required Approach: Short explanations + practical exercises + role-play + observation + feedback + real-world application
