JOIN US AT CREEKSIDE COMMUNITY CENTER for “Talking about Love” Seminar

Join us for a special event in support of my good friend, Dr. Jasper Heaton PhD. Philosophy who is producing a series of educational talks on a variety of topics. They have written the following description for their event:

A Conversation About Love We are lucky to be joined by Professor Carrie Jenkins, who is a writer, artist, and philosopher at UBC. Prof. Jenkins will tell us about what she’s been thinking about recently about love, and about Iris Murdoch’s ideas about love. I have some questions to ask Prof. Jenkins, and then we will open up the floor to questions and discussion. This conversation will develop the theme of love, power, and political resistance that we talked about in July. Many of these ideas about the power of love are developed from the work of Iris Murdoch, a philosopher and novelist, who is often credited with coining the idea that love is a way of paying attention. Prof. Jenkins’s work has been enormously influential on my own thinking so I’m really looking forward to this conversation, and I’m excited that she’s able to join us for this event. Prof. Jenkins is also a wonderful and engaging speaker, so I hope you will all come and take this opportunity to hear from them.

The event will happen at CREEKSIDE COMMUNITY CENTRE (located at 1 Athletes Way) in Vancouver. This location is about a two minute walk from Main Street Science World skytrain station.

This is the 2nd in a new ongoing series of educational events.

Whether you're a local or just visiting, come connect with like-minded individuals and learn about stuff! We host these Meetups to provide an opportunity to make new friends and connect with people in your community! Most importantly to connect in a meaningful way. Hopefully we can make Vancouver a more welcoming place for all. Bring your best self and come get out of your comfort zone;)
