A DOUBLE BILL: POPPYCOCK & REAXENIA
About the event
Senior students from UCT & Stellenbosch University Drama Departments Reaxenia: Through physical theatre, the dynamic world explores the duality of hunger as the absence of food and the hunger for truth. As a potentially explosive newspaper article is about to be released, the play follows characters navigating a society on the brink of upheaval. Through satire and political commentary, Reaxenia asks whether words alone are powerful enough to reshape a society, and what responsibility comes with telling the truth. Poppycock: Six males, three races, all idiots surviving one generation in crisis. If masculinity were a performance, these boys forgot their lines. Bear witness to Poppycock: An inclusive-ish sketch comedy exploring the lived experiences of Gen Z males in modern South Africa. Through satire, absurdity, and uncomfortable honesty, six men grapple with friendship, identity, ego, and the chaos of becoming men in a world that expects them to have it all figured out. Duration: 1hr30min; including 20 min intervals Age Restriction: no under 13 Language and Nudity
