Summer Exposure 2026 | Session 4 Jason Wallerstein | Steve Maddox | Jessica Cook Exhibition dates: July 24 – August 2 Opening Reception: Saturday, July 25, 5-7 Artist Talk: Sunday, August 2, 3pm Summer gallery hours: Friday - Sunday, 1-5 Summer Exposure is a series of two-week group exhibitions showcasing local artists working in a variety of media. Steve Maddox is an experienced educator and abstract minimalist artist. He uses acrylic, spray paint, charcoal, and markers to create large pieces on canvas where he scrapes, scratches, and sprays water to drip, blend, and mingle paint. After over 40 years devoted to public school leadership, Maddox now focuses on his art and providing community service as a gallery teacher and art educator at The Blanton Museum of Art on the grounds of the University of Texas at Austin. Jessica Cook is a figurative painter whose work captures movement and the emotional presence of people and animals. Her most recent work focuses on quiet, dream-like encounters and fleeting moments inspired by nature and stories. Trained in traditional oil painting, she now often combines collage, handwriting and washes of color in a mixed media approach. Cook studied E
