Designed for curious kids and the adults who love exploring with them, the performance by musicians Marcelo Godoy and Alaor Soares brings the vibrant world of Brazilian folklore to life in Amsterdam. With a modern, interactive approach, this show at Teatro Munganga blends the warmth of guitar, the pulse of percussion and the beauty of the human voice to tell and sing the stories that shape Brazil’s cultural soul. Rather than a passive performance, it’s an invitation. Children and parents are gently drawn into the rhythms of samba, maracatu, baião and other iconic styles, discovering how music can carry history, imagination and community all at once. It’s playful, engaging and culturally rich — a rare chance for families of all backgrounds to experience something new together. For many children, it becomes a joyful first step into a multicultural world.
As Marcelo Godoy puts it: “We want children not just to hear the music, but to feel the heartbeat of our land. Brazilian folklore is visual, rhythmic and ancestral. Bringing it to Amsterdam through voice, guitar and percussion is a way of sharing the strength of who we are.”
