About the Event
What happens when we decouple art from the expectation of creating a "pretty picture"? For decades, school art rooms and conventional workshops have conditioned us to view art through the narrow lens of technical skill, penmanship, and immediate visual appeal—a bottleneck that often leaves many feeling they simply "aren't creative."
In this intimate edition of the Pro Series, designer and educator Ivan Ho shares his personal journey across nearly two decades in creative academia and studio practice. Moving past generic "how-to" techniques, Ivan unpacks his ongoing inquiry into how art is traditionally delivered in academic settings and why a fundamental shift is overdue.
This session explores how the true power of art lies not in product, but in process. By examining the artist's mindset—learning to sit comfortably with ambiguity, embracing productive failure, and cultivating deep observation—art transforms into an accessible, vital life skill. Join us for a thought-provoking session that reframes art-making as a tool for personal resilience, creative confidence, and navigating the complexities of everyday life.
