About the event

For forty years now, queer club De Trut (founded 1985) has been (and still is) an Amsterdam icon and safe haven for non-binary people who like to go out. Documentary maker Pim Mookhoek portrays ten members of the ‘Trut community’, from activist former staff member to club regular. De Trut is world famous in Amsterdam. A queer party has been organised here every Sunday evening for forty years now, run 100 per cent by volunteers. The income generated is used to subsidise LGBTQI+ projects worldwide. The parties have proved a great success: pretty soon after the club opened, in a squat on Bilderdijkstraat, the queue to get in snaked around the block and, so many years on, it still does.
