Discover the other side of Amsterdam - a journey through local neighborhoods, hidden stories, nature, and authentic Dutch experiences away from the busy tourist streets.
This tour is perfect for travelers or expats who want to see how Amsterdam feels beyond the famous canals and landmarks. Instead of rushing between attractions, we’ll explore peaceful areas where locals live, relax, and spend their free time.
We’ll start along the Amstel River, enjoying beautiful views while learning about Amsterdam’s connection to water and trade. From there, we’ll continue into the Plantage neighborhood, one of the city’s most charming and green areas. Once an important part of Amsterdam’s history, today it is a peaceful local district filled with parks, historic streets, and everyday life.
During our walk, we’ll discover meaningful places connected to Amsterdam’s past, including hidden historical spots and Holocaust memorials, while hearing personal stories behind the places we pass. We’ll explore the surroundings of ARTIS Amsterdam Royal Zoo, where you can watch animals and birds without needing the admisson tickets and experience one of the city’s greenest areas.
We’ll also discover Amsterdam’s maritime past by visiting the area of one of the city’s earliest shipyards and learning how the city grew into an important international trading center.
After exploring Plantage, we’ll continue to Amsterdam Oost, another vibrant neighborhood loved by locals. Here, we’ll visit one of Amsterdam’s most beautiful historic windmills - one of the tallest remaining windmills in the city.
We’ll finish the experience at a popular local brewery, where you can enjoy authentic Dutch beer in a relaxed atmosphere. Here, I’ll share insights about Dutch drinking culture, Amsterdam life, and give you personal recommendations for places to visit, eat, and experience during your stay.
A relaxed and authentic way to discover the Amsterdam locals know - combining local life, forgotten stories, nature, history, and Dutch traditions.
