La Virreina Centre de la Imatge, Carrer la Rambla 99, Barcelona

About the event

Curator: Valentín Roma It is difficult to understand the trajectory of Frederic Amat (Barcelona, 1952) without considering the role played in his development by the many poets, writers, playwrights, and philosophers with whom the artist has engaged in dialogue from the 1970s to the present day. Vuit is an exhibition that brings together some of these "conversations" centring on words, images, strokes and questions. These range from the previously unreleased short film titled Al filo (2026)—conceived specifically for La Virreina in collaboration with Chantal Maillard—to collaborations with Mark Strand, J. V. Foix, Octavio Paz, and Guillermo Cabrera Infante, among others. To paraphrase Peter Sloterdijk, Vuit reminds us of the extent to which artistic creation is a long epistle with multiple senders. Official opening: 10 July, 7 pm
