Another masterful Matheson/Poe adaptation, skilfully mixing fantasy and comedy, is a hugely entertaining romp about rival magicians. Lorre plays Dr Bedlo who, when the film opens, has been turned into a raven by Karloff’s evil Scarabus. Bedlo seeks the help of Price’s grieving sorcerer Dr Erasmus Craven to overturn the spell.
