The Private Life of Sherlock Holmes
About the event
Holmes and Watson take on the case of a mysterious woman pulled from the Thames, which soon escalates into a cross-country adventure featuring dwarfs, monks and monsters. Wilder’s take on the great detective sparked controversy for its approach to his sexuality, his discontent with fame and his fallibility in the face of progress. Today, it stands as an insightful, modern embrace of the character, and a touching ode to male friendship. Screen: NFT3. Screening details: 35mm.
