The Last Days of Disco

The Last Days of Disco

BFI Southbank, London

About the event

Two recent graduates find themselves behind the velvet ropes of Manhattan’s exclusive nightclubs, where they enter a world of romantic entanglements, class disparity and gender politics. Looking back on the end of the disco era with a wry raised eyebrow, Stillman brilliantly skewers the transactional relationships of yuppiedom. Beneath the mirror ball and between the lines of politely damning dialogue, a deliciously dry comedy, with more than a little bite, emerges. See our Seniors’ screening of Whit Stillman’s Barcelona Screen: NFT2. Screening details: 35mm.
