For his feature debut, Cox gave Stanton a rare leading role, playing the titular character, who is aided by Estevez’s rookie. Together, they chase down a 1964 chevy loaded with radioactive (and intergalactic) cargo. A thrilling synthesis of sci-fi, post-punk anarchism and conspiracy paranoia, it was shot by Robby Müller and set to an iconic jukebox soundtrack.
