The National Gallery, Sainsbury Wing Foyer, London

About the event

To mark the new exhibition 'Van Eyck: The Portraits', join us for a special tour exploring portraiture in the Gallery’s collection. Discover how artists across the centuries have captured the people around them, from intimate likenesses to powerful studies of identity, status and character. Looking closely at portraits in the Gallery’s collection, the tour explores changing approaches to representation, technique and the art of capturing a sitter’s presence. Join us to discover the art of portraiture through some of the Gallery’s most remarkable works including Hans Holbein the Younger’s 'The Ambassadors', Rembrandt’s 'Self Portrait at the Age of 34 'and Artemisia Gentileschi’s 'Self Portrait as Saint Catherine of Alexandria'. Access: For Members.
