Nosferatu: A Psychedelic Cinema Experience
About the event
Right around the Halloween period, Cone of Confusion and Psymatic 2000 team up for a psychedelic cinema experience: An original soundtrack performed live to the screening of 1922 silent movie Nosferatu for 2 nights only! The silent movie will be screened at Mothership Studios, Marrickville, with a soundtrack performed live by Eora/Sydney-based psych jazz band Cone of Confusion and augmented by visual installations and effects by Psymatic 2000. Created by F.W. Murnau in 1922, Nosferatu: A Symphony of Horror remains one of the most haunting and influential masterpieces of silent cinema. More than a century later, Nosferatu retains an uncanny ability to unsettle audiences with its masterful use of shadow and suggestion. Beautifully macabre and endlessly evocative, it is a hypnotic cinematic experience that continues to cast a long shadow over the horror genre. A true form of collaboration through visual arts, cinema & live music improvisation. “Expand your horizons of consciousness without taking illicit substances” – ABC Radio This will be a unique experience, for 2 nights only. BYO event. “An experimental tour-de-force… forged in a realm somewhere between West Africa and deep space.” – TheMusic
