Join soprano Isabelle Haile with Andrew Maginley on theorbo and Baroque guitar for a special afternoon in the Supporters’ House Salon. Our programme of 17th-century music for soprano and theorbo offers an intimate journey through the expressive soundscape of the early Baroque. Combining the clarity and emotional nuance of the soprano voice with the rich, resonant accompaniment of the theorbo, the repertoire explores themes of love, longing, devotion and pastoral beauty. Drawing on works by composers such as Claudio Monteverdi, Barbara Strozzi and Giulio Caccini, the programme highlights the emergence of monody and the heightened connection between text and music that defined the 17th- century.
