Three early short films by Jacques Demy, revealing the director’s fascination with the work of Jean Cocteau (Le bel indifférent), as well as Demy’s interest in documentary (Le sabotier du Val de Loire). Before Jacques Demy (1931-1990) had his first big successes ( Lola, 1961; Les parapluies de Cherbourg, 1964), he learned the filmmaker’s trade by making short films. In fact, his experience went back further; as a fourteen-year-old, Demy had a Pathé Baby camera, then an Ercsam camera and projector – some time later, he joined a cinema club in Nantes.
