About the event
I have been working as a professional violinist for almost 30 years. Splendor is the place where I am now going to tell my own story for the first time. I will tell how I, as a farmer's daughter, found my way and ended up in the Concertgebouw. Through personal stories, anecdotes from the classical music scene, and a look behind the scenes of the concert stage, you will get an idea of what it means to be a musician: the pleasure, the tension, the cards you sometimes shuffle wrong, raising children, and above all: what music can give you. About member concerts Splendor can only be the independent sanctuary that it is, thanks to the members who support us. We repay them with what we live for: music. Every year, all Splendor musicians give one concert that is free of charge for this group of pillars of support to whom Splendor owes its existence day in, day out. Together with the many other events, this means that our members can visit over 50 concerts per year for free for €9.99 p/m (and €4.99 for those on low incomes and students!) - and they receive a discount on all other concerts. Not a bad deal, right? Thanks to the members, Splendor can remain independent, which is the only way to maintain true freedom in programming, experimenting, taking risks, and offering a springboard to young, emerging artists. Anyone who can name another place where there is no central programmer, where you can schedule last-minute concerts at any time, where there is no backstage, and where artists and the audience constantly mingle and hang out together at the bar. The place where mysterious brainwaves find their way to the audience, which elsewhere are sometimes labelled as too risky, but which nevertheless guarantees high quality by letting the top of the Dutch music scene run wild in this creative playground, gets a free membership! Would you rather not have a membership, but are you interested in this concert? Then you are of course more than welcome! Buy your tickets via the ticket link.
