Saturday Studio: The Painterly Print (Oct 10)
About the event
Follow in Mary Cassatt’s footsteps and make your own monoprints with this workshop inspired by Mary Cassatt: After Impressionism and led by painter Leslie Baum.
Cassatt experimented with medium, materials, scale, and seriality to produce technically daring works inspired by a wide range of sources, including the Old Masters, Japanese prints, and her peers among the French avant-garde. Using Cassatt’s compositions as source material, participants will be encouraged to play with cropping, simplifying imagery, and using expressive color to create several personal renditions of their own.
This program is open to participants ages 13 and up. Each participant must have their own ticket. The registration fee includes all required materials, including printmaking inks and specialty paper. The workshop takes place entirely in the Ryan Learning Center, and museum admission is not required. For information about tuition support for this class, please reach out to Nancy Chen at nchen5@artic.edu.
