Play Tourist in Seattle: Waterfront Walk, Sculpture Park & Pike Place Market
About the event
Let’s spend a Sunday enjoying some of the best views and sights in our own city! We’ll take a leisurely walk along the Seattle waterfront, explore some outdoor art, browse Pike Place Market, and leave plenty of time to stop, sit, and enjoy the scenery.
We’ll meet at 11 a.m. at the Broad Street and Western Avenue entrance to Olympic Sculpture Park. After exploring the sculptures, we’ll walk a short way into Myrtle Edwards Park for views of Elliott Bay, then turn around and head south along the waterfront.
Along the way, we can pause at Pier 62, pass the Seattle Aquarium, and continue to Pier 58 to take in the views and see the Great Wheel. From there, we’ll head up the Overlook Walk, the pedestrian connection between the waterfront and Pike Place Market.
At the Market, everyone can grab lunch or a snack if they’d like. We can browse the stalls and shops, explore Post Alley, or simply find a place to sit and talk. Nothing is on a strict schedule—we can spend more time walking or more time relaxing, depending on what the group enjoys.
We’ll walk back through Belltown and finish where we started at Olympic Sculpture Park, so anyone who drives will be close to their car.
Plan for approximately 3½ to 4½ miles of walking over the afternoon, with breaks along the way. We’ll aim to finish around 3:30 p.m., though the timing is flexible.
Cost: The walk and sights are free. Food and drinks are optional. Street parking is generally free on Sundays, but please check the sign where you park for any Sunday time limit or other restriction. The sculpture park’s parking garage is paid.
Wear comfortable walking shoes, dress for the weather, and come ready to enjoy Seattle at an easy pace!
