Amsterdam Klezmer Band - 30 Years
About the event
The mission of the Amsterdam Klezmer Band has been simple for three decades: to celebrate life with music, together with as many different people as possible. The band makes no distinction between genres, styles, origin, religion, or politics. And it does so with a lively mix of klezmer, Balkan, jazz, Oriental music, and a touch of hip-hop. Tonight, the Amsterdam Klezmer Band celebrates its thirtieth anniversary with a festive concert in the Kleine Zaal! Amsterdam Klezmer Band
The Amsterdam Klezmer Band has its roots in both street culture and the conservatory. The band embraces tradition and innovation, blows away festival tents, but also makes a deep impression in concert halls and theaters. The band has been active in the music world for over twenty-five years, with music described by connoisseurs as a lively mix of klezmer, Balkan, jazz, Eastern music, and a touch of hip-hop. The band's mission is simple: to celebrate life through music together with as many different people as possible. The Amsterdam Klezmer Band makes no distinction between genres, styles, origin, religion, or politics. And this approach proves to work well in many countries. The band has played not only at major festivals in Europe, such as Lowlands, North Sea Jazz Festival, and Sziget, but also at the Wiener Konzerthaus, the Cité de la Musique in Paris, and the jazz festival in Hong Kong.
