Older Adults and Museums: Educational Opportunities – 13th edition, 2026
STRUCTURE: In-person course, 44 hours across 11 weekly sessions on Wednesdays, 14h to 18h.
TARGET AUDIENCE: Professionals in education, health and social services working with groups of people aged 60 and over.
OBJECTIVE: Equip participants to leverage the socio-educational potential of museums and strengthen practice with older adults through art, culture and heritage.
DATES: August 19, 26; September 02, 09, 16, 23, 30; October 07, 14, 21, 28.
VENUE: Auditório Pinacoteca Luz.

ADMISSION: Pre-registration opens 06 July and closes 07 August 2026. Selection based on profile and registration order; priority given to professionals from organizations with no prior course participation. Selected candidates notified from 10 August; final registration in person at Pinacoteca Luz.
CURRICULUM: Aging processes, old age and memory; heritage and collective memory; definitions of art; image literacy as educational method; multisensory engagement with artworks; art museum education; educational work with older visitors at Pinacoteca; museum accessibility and inclusive programming; educational initiatives with older adults elsewhere; developing educational pathways for older audiences using Pinacoteca's collection.
