Descripción
Master Tesshin Sanderson will lead a theoretical and practical workshop for anyone interested in being introduced to Zen practice.
He will explain in detail the foundations of the meditation posture (zazen), breathing, mental attitude, and the fundamentals of attention and concentration.
He will also give an exposition of the Four Noble Truths and the Noble Eightfold Path, essential teachings of Buddhism.
"To study the way of Buddha is to study oneself. To study oneself is to forget oneself. To forget oneself is to be enlightened by the innumerable dharmas. To be enlightened by the innumerable dharmas is to bring about the dropping away of body and mind, both one's own and others'. The traces of enlightenment disappear, and this traceless enlightenment continues endlessly."
Excerpt from the Shobogenzo Genjokoan by Dogen Zenji.
Tesshin Sanderson was ordained as a monk in 1973. He received Dharma transmission from his Teacher, Taizan Maezumi Roshi, in 1991. He leads the Zen Center of Mexico and the Zen Buddhist Community Jardín de Luz, in Madrid.
In his talks, Master Tesshin presents the fundamental teachings of Buddhism and explores in depth the methods and practices that support our own spiritual search.
Zen Buddhism is rooted in a deep gratitude for the teachings of Buddha Shakyamuni, but above all encourages us to take responsibility for renewing the experience of awakening in our own lives. To this end, the teaching of the Noble Eightfold Path is highlighted as the way to bring peace, joy, and full awareness to our lives.
A more detailed biography of Master Tesshin, as well as information about the activities of the Zen Buddhist Community Jardín de Luz, can be found at www.zenluz.org
