Workshop: Postcards to São Paulo

In dialogue with the exhibition “Eu persigo São Paulo – Mário e a cidade”, Casa Mário de Andrade hosts Carmen Garcia, creator of Amor CorreSPondido, for a postcard workshop. The activity invites participants to send original postcards created from the relationships between literature, city and memory, taking as a starting point the life and work of the writer and his multiple ways of perceiving, narrating and imagining São Paulo. With Amor CorreSPondido. Free. Amor CorreSPondido is an artistic intervention created by Carmen Garcia that proposes a table in the middle of the path. On it, there are materials for writing and sending letters and postcards. The action creates a space of affection, encounter and listening through writing. From there, conversations emerge about bonds, personal stories of displacement and memories of letters received and sent previously. The practice of manual writing and sending letters by mail rescues an almost forgotten gesture. For younger people, it often inaugurates the experience of writing and posting a letter. In addition, the intervention welcomes participants in an environment of listening and support, where life stories are shared, making the action a collective and sensitive experience. Carmen Garcia (São Paulo, 1989) is an artist and educator, with a master's degree in Visual Arts. She develops interventions, publications and participatory installations that investigate the word as matter and device for encounter, moving between visual arts, literature and education.
