Please join us this Sunday to discuss all things AI. There are many points of interest on AI and we are likely to explore a broad range of topics.
We will meet at the Captain Melville at 2pm for a 2:15pm start sharp.
Please note the new $5 mandatory donation entry fee (cash or transfer on day) to help with MeetUp subscription costs.
There is no pre-requisite preparation necessary, nor a philosophical background, all that is required is a curious mind. These discussions are both a Socrates Cafe style discussion and lively metaphysical dojo, in the spirit of learning and friendly debate, so please feel free to challenge assumptions and be prepared to have your own assumptions challenged.
This event is also posted to the Philosophy Circle group.
Questions may include:
• How do we program AI effectively to understand what we want from it morally? What might this reveal about morality? Who should decide?
• We believe a lot of human testimony we can't check. What is different about believing AI? What standards should we apply?
• Who is likely to capture the gains from AI?
• How has AI most made a difference in your life?
• How will life change if AI can mimic a human in text, speech and video well enough that we can't tell the difference?
• Would you welcome a potential world of lots of material abundance but little meaningful paid work remaining?
Hope to see you there!
